We’re delighted to announce that our fleet of removal trucks is now fully Direct Vision Standard (DVS) compliant, thanks to a recent fit-out by the engineers from Traffic Angel.
From 1st March 2021, Transport For London’s new HGV regulations will require all vehicles over 12 tonne GWT to have a permit to drive into central London and specific areas within the M25 – or risk a £550 fine. To secure this permit, all HGV vehicles must feature Direct Vision Safety Standards.
Direct Vision Standard has been introduced to make the streets of London safer for pedestrians and cyclists. It is based on a Vision Star rating supplied by the manufacture of the vehicle. It indicates how much a driver can see directly from their HGV cab in relation to other road users.
To comply with the new regulations, and to ensure the safety of the public, our HGV vehicles have now been installed with the following equipment:
- Blindspot sensor systems
- Extra nearside cameras
- Reverse cameras
- Cab monitors
- Left turn warning alarms
- Warning stickers on the side and rear of the vehicle
