With its world-famous markets, London’s largest lido, great transport links, brilliant schools and a wide selection of property, it’s no wonder that many prospective buyers are now setting their sights on Tooting.

Transport links

Tooting offers a great combination of the best that London has to offer. It comes with all the benefits of being a Zone 3 borough, whilst its underground stations Tooting Broadway and Tooting Bec offer great access to the West End and the City via the Northern Line. Meanwhile Thameslink provides easy access to St Pancras International, making it easy to get out of London and even the country from your own front door.

Property

Tooting has a variety of property to choose from making it a great choice for a range of buyers, with an average house price of just over £690,000 according to Rightmove. Much of the property in Tooting comes in the form of elegant Victorian and Edwardian houses. There are small houses in Totterdown Fields, newly developed apartments, flats and duplexes at Bedford House, The Tramyard and Graveney Mews, and a large upcoming development called Springfield Village. There are doer-uppers available off High Street and Sellincourt Road and at the higher end of the market buyers have an opportunity to obtain a stunning double-fronted Edwardian home, with iron-wrought balconies offering views over Tooting Bec Common. Schools Food is not the only thing that Tooting takes seriously. Education is a high priority here too, with a selection of schools rated “outstanding” by Ofsted in the area. These include primary schools St Boniface RC and Hillbrook, and co-ed comprehensive school Graveney. Tooting also offers a selection of great private schools and alternative education is an option here too thanks to London Steiner, which is located in neighbouring Balham.

Eating out and shopping

When it comes to eating out in Tooting you are spoiled for choice and can eat your way around the world in the restaurants and cafes located in its extensive town centre and within the two world-famous markets; markets which have earned themselves a spot on The Lonely Planet’s ‘Top 10 Coolest Place to Visit in the World’ list. But the markets aren’t your only shopping choice. Tooting is also home to a Sainsbury’s, Wilko and department store Morleys.
